You see me everyday, but never take notice,
it is actually all of you, all the same,
half come here and half go there,
never in the same place,
you cringe, you speak, you glare, you howl,
they only stand there wondering why,
what you see is wrong, what you feel is bad,
not brain, not heart, nor emotions can win,
when we judge by our skin,
you live here in this town,
it seems like all the others,
you sit here, they sit there,
you only did this to yourself,
one day it will all be changed,
the way this town is run,
you might one day find yourself,
scooching over just a bit,
you turn your head and have an awkward stare,
a smile comes upon your face,
and you realize what is so different,
not the color of your skin, but by the way you walk,
they walk tall and see no difference,
you walked around like you ruled the place,
finally friends, no judgement in the eye,
your town is different, you are too,
I'm glad it is character from which we decide.
